Prolapse of the colon is when the colon collapse and falls down. The transverse colon is most likely to prolapse. If the colon prolapses there, it then pulls the organs above it down and causes pressure on contents of the abdomen below it. This can cause some serious complications.

Constipation and poor colon health lead to prolapsus, along with the natural force of gravity on the body. The transverse colon is the only part of the body that extents across the upper abdomen. It is the softest tissue of the body and because of this it can drop because of the force of gravity.

The intestines are supported by the greater omentum, which is a tough substance and by ligaments. The greater omentum protects the intestine and keeps it from moving too much. The ligaments are what keep the upperparts of the bowel from falling down onto the lower part.

The ligaments need proper nutrition to work properly. Also it is important to exercise the abdomen area to strengthen the ligaments. As long as the ligaments are healthy and strong than the abdomens will not drop. Getting the proper minerals help the ligaments stay healthy. The colon needs the proper amount of magnesium.

Constipation can help cause prolapse. When the intestine becomes constipated, the colon backs up and the fecal material can get stuck there and dry out. This can cause mucus to build up on the walls of the colon. The mixture of fecal material and mucous can be heavy and this heavy material in the colon along with a weakening of the ligaments because of poor nutrition can cause the traverse colon to collapse.

Fatigue can often help lead to this and many other health problems. Fatigue is why when someone becomes very sick one of the best natural cures is to get plenty of bed rest. When a person becomes fatigued they then tend to slump over which helps cause abdomen muscle weakness.

When prolapse happens there is pressure on the abdominal organs underneath it. This causes the suspensory ligaments to work harder. There is a natural increase of the flow of blood and lymph to where the pressure is and toxic waste tends to built up at these points. It can cause the tissues to compress and may cause displacements.

When the colon collapses this also pulls down what is above it. It can cause the stomach to move. In women it can cause the uterus to be moved and can cause ovarian, vaginal and abdomen tumors

In men it can cause there to be pressure on the prostate gland which can cause the prostate to not function properly. It may also cause bladder problems.

A yoga exercise where you hold your legs over your head can help with this condition.
